Effort to achieve a masterful peace This short expanse of breath we are honored to take is so valuable; yet most never live, we simply inhale without regard. The Italian culture graciously reminded me to savor the sun and all of my senses in a short few days. To slowly bask in a sip of wine, to savor every morsel of sustenance and marvel at the creative genius spawned by brilliant artists and honor the many historical notes and ghosts that paved the way for modern civilization. There is honor here, not pride, for the dead and living both body and work. The green hills of countryside, blue waters near the sea, red pigment in many flowers and trees all share a glimpse with us of what true beauty is. A simple; peaceful offering, this land is rich in natural blessings, with ripe olives that produce the best food and oil in the world. Bountiful fields of grapes draping the rich soil, they make Grappa, a lovely and strong Italian alcohol, along with over 200 varieties of the world’s best wine. Italy is
filled by men, women and
children so resolute in honoring
their history, a surrounding
part of every day, they took
thousands of years to study,
remember and share its beauty
with any willing participant.
The blood stained soil is not
faded in memories here, it is
respected and etched into
hearts, woven into the fabric of
Italian life.
BURENO -
ITALY
There are distinct differences we all share and similarities we appreciate together. This land is borne with suffering and cherished traditions. In the many wars, crusades and invasions of this bellisimo country, a people unified less than 200 years past still have their differences too. Remnants of watchtowers each separated Italian community used to protect their cities against invaders from other Italian cities still stand tall in this land. Ancient Roman aqueducts in use today, thousands of years later, help us understand how important it is to preserve history. Time is not guaranteed us; we get so tied up in fear and miss out on finishing our work here. Michelangelo saw that and wanted to share his immense passion for humankind with the knowledge he gained observing others and challenging his own philosophy. Seeing the first recognized piano ever created, Stradivari pieces and the awe inspiring statue of David, one begins to realize the years can pass and opportunity is not achieved by stagnancy. Everything on this earth is found in the eyes of genius. The delicate balance we straddle should be enjoyed and shared. So much beauty is trampled while our selfish nature ruins the most perfect of creations and natural brilliance encompassing our daily existence. The many brilliant minds of Italian philosophers, artists and everyday people who recognize that place don’t just create masterful pieces. They may be revered for their work but in their minds it is a place of masterful peace. A place most on earth will never find but we all should afford to learn and share with humanity. |
